The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and senior representatives of the train companies serving Greater London have pledged to continue to work together to improve services for the capital?s rail passengers.
At a summit meeting in City Hall today (12 February) the parties followed up the successful negotiations that saw Oyster ticketing extended to National Rail services by deciding on an agenda for further improvements.
It was agreed that:
· Work will begin this summer to explore opportunities for further simplification of fares.
The London Assembly will on Monday hold two confirmation hearings to assess Mayor of London Boris Johnson?s proposed appointments to the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) and the London Waste and Recycling Board.
The Assembly?s Confirmation Hearings Committee will question:

Proposed appointment to the Office of Chair of the London Waste and Recycling Board
From 3pm: Reshard Auladin
Proposed appointment to the Office of Vice-Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority
The first new fire station to be built in the capital in over a decade, complete with state of the art facilities and top-notch green technology, was opened today by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
The new station, at Harold Hill, Havering, is the greenest ever to be built in London. Fitted out with an innovative water collection system, solar panels and energy saving boilers, it will produce 43 per cent less CO2 emissions than a station built without these green features.
There will be over 9 million tickets available for the 2012 Games, but who will get them and what is a fair price to pay to see an Olympic event?
The London Assembly is calling on Londoners to have their say ahead of the official announcement of the ticketing strategy later this year. They are launching a special online discussion forum today [Thursday 11 February] and a summary of the comments will be presented to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG).
